The expansive grounds of the Kihara Fudoson Temple stretch over a 6,600 square meter area. A stone staircase at the entrance leads visitors up to a pair of huge 2.72m tall statues of deities that guard the temple. Kihara Fudoson is an affiliate to the Enryakuji Temple and is one of the three great Fudoson temples in Japan. Many tourists visit the temple festival held every year on February 28th in which participants test their mettle by fire-walking and taking extremely hot baths.
