On the opposite side of Kamitori from Kami-no-Ura Dori runs Oaks-Dori, a relaxed street with brick-lined walkways, enormous camphor trees, and a variety of small cafes and boutiques. The camphor trees that now cover most of the street were originally planted as memorials on the sports ground of a long since gone school. Trees as large as these are a rarity in Japanese cities, and really lend a unique atmosphere to Oaks-Dori.
