This park is a combination zoo and botanical garden, allowing visitors to enjoy both rare wildlife and beautiful plant life in one location. The botanical garden area features a large greenhouse where a variety of tropical plants are on display. There are also fields full of seasonal flowers; especially impressive are the rape blossoms in the spring and cosmos flowers in the fall. The zoo area is home to many different animals, including giraffes, elephants, monkeys, lions, and snakes, in number of fun and unique viewing pavilions. The park is especially popular with children and families, and is a popular field trip destination for schools in and around Kumamoto City.

Fees	* Parts of the facility are undergoing temporary closures, so the cost of entry is free until the west gate area is fully restored.
Close	* Due to the temporary closures, opening hours are currently limited to Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Hours	9AM-5PM (entrance until 4:30PM)
Parking Lot	There are parking spaces for 1225 normal sized cars. The parking lot can also cater to 58 buses. Parking fees apply on Saturdays, Sundays and all public holidays.
Access	By city bus, get off at Doshokubutsu-en Mae and walk for about 2 minutes By city tram, get off at Zoological and Botanical Gardens Entrance, and walk for about 10 minutes By car, get off at Kumamoto Interchange on the Kyushu Expressway, and drive for about 30 minutes
