Kaminoura-Dori is a narrow street that runs parallel to the east of the Kamitori arcade and Namikizaka. Interspersed between the vegetable and rice shops that originally populated the area are a number of old Japanese houses converted to secluded restaurants and izakaya that offer some of the best foods Kumamoto has to offer. Kami-no-Ura is also home to a variety of bars, soba restaurants, boutiques, beads shops, and hair salons, and offers a more intimate atmosphere compared to the neighboring Kamitori. For those looking for a quieter, more leisurely place to shop and eat in Kumamoto, Kami-no-Ura is definitely worth a look.
