This walkway extends from the foot of Miyukizaka Hill, where a seated bronze statute of Kato Kiyomasa resides, along the Tsuboi River all the way to the front of City Hall. The Nagabei wall (242m long) lying on the opposite side of the river makes for beautiful scenery while strolling down the path, and is the longest of the Kumamoto Castle walls. In the spring and summer months, the stoic black and white of the wall juxtaposed with the bright green foliage peeking over the parapet creates an excellent space for relaxing on one of the benches lining the path. When the cherry blossoms come out in March and April, the cherry tree-lined Nagabei Path is an especially popular place for visitors to come and enjoy the season.
