船場橋 SENBA BRIDGE
“Where are you? I am in Higo. Where is Higo ?” the song “Higotemari-uta” is a well-known jingle and can be sung by residents in Kumamoto. The “raccoon” (based on jingle) statue is set in the Kumamoto Shiden, Senbabashi Station. Crossed street and near the intersection, there is another one standing in front of the post office for visitors' interests.

MEIHACHIBASHI
The famous stone bridge designer, Hashimoto Kangorou in Meiji period, constructs Meihachi Bridge. In that time, he just built Nihon Bridge, Edo Bridge and Nijū bridge in Edo castle. He returned to his home town, Kumamoto, and Meihachi Bridge is one of the bridges he built. The bridge was built in Meiji 8 (1840), so it is called Meihachi Bridge. ( 8 pronounced in Japanese is hachi)

Yoshida jyunseki learned from Dr. Siebold. After finished his education in Nagasaki, he developed the medicine made by 5 kinds of herbs and it is called "Shodokukeshigan". "Konryuganyaku" is another medicine for digest system, and it is using for diarrhea, indigestion, stomach discomfort, asthma, dizziness etc., also available for children.
