Torigoe touge no chaya

Chaya was located behind the bamboo forest. It had disintegrated about 1935 (S.W 10), but now the hanging billboard still exists. Chaya is reconstructed in 1989( H.S 1), April and it still remains the old fashion and the way it was. Chaya included museum, rest area and store which provides dango soup (Japanese traditional cuisines), manju (Japanese traditional sweet) and local vegetables.

Yuusuimae toilet (yuusuimae restroom)

The terraced rice fields in theTaishoujin district is famous for photographers in Kumamoto City. In June, the fields before harvesting look like a mirror on the ground. When the time comes to harvesting season in Autumn, the rice with heavy ears in golden color plays great harmony with flowers in the riverside.

Start of Ishidatami Pathway

The most of pathway that described in the novel "Kusamakura", was the connection between Kumamato and Takase (Tamana, now). On the prefectural route forwards to valley, here is the start point of Ishidatami Pathway. It still remains the way it was, and loved by the walker and tourists. Standing on the pathway covered by moss and bamboo leaves with a little bit of darkness, might meet Soseki in déjà vu and forget to rest of world.

Noidetouge no chaya

On the right side you can find Ariake Sea and Unzen, and on the left side there are Amakusa and Uto peninsula in the middle. Once the "Noide touge no chaya", the tea house Soseki had visited before and it had been written in the Novel "Kusamakura" Here is a great spot for enjoying the sunset in Ariake sea with an observation platform, rest rooms and parking area (for 5 vehicles). The poem to describe the beauty of this view written by Soseki, is engraved on stele and set on the observation platform. Besides that, there are many cherry blossom trees in the observation platform, it is a great place for enjoying cherry blossom.
