There are supposedly five gravestones throughout Japan honoring the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, three of which are located in Kumamoto where he spent his final years until his death in 1645. The first is located in Tatsuda Nature Park at the Taisho-ji temple ruins. The second is located further east in an area known as Musashizuka. Musashi was said to have been buried in full armor, and is memorialized at Musashizuka Park with a bronze statue of the skilled dueler. The third grave is located to the west at Nishi-no-Musashizuka in Karashima-cho. Even now, no one knows which grave is the actual burial site of Miyamoto Musashi.
