Falling Ill – Hospitals

Should you become suddenly ill or sustain a serious injury, please call 119 to connect with a fire station or an ambulance. Below is a list of hospitals that provide medical care in English. Some of these institutions may require a reservation for medical exams.

Lost Items or Theft /Police (Kumamoto Prefectural Police)

If you should lose your things or have your things stolen while you are traveling, report the lost items to the nearest police station as soon as possible. Make sure to get a copy of the proof of loss report as you must submit this document if you would like to receive compensation from international travel insurance. Should you lose your passport, you must also contact your embassy or consulate in Japan to inform them in order to receive a departure form to return to your country. Should you find yourself in an urgent situation or accident, please call 110 to contact the police.
