In the event of a natural disaster, information updates from public organizations and the city will be provided in multiple languages at the Kumamoto International Center. Furthermore, the facility can be used as an evacuation shelter during a disaster. Those staying in Kumamoto for a short period of time can register their email address here to receive evacuation warnings and other disaster-related information by email.

If you should lose your things or have your things stolen while you are traveling, report the lost items to the nearest police station as soon as possible. Make sure to get a copy of the proof of loss report as you must submit this document if you would like to receive compensation from international travel insurance. Should you lose your passport, you must also contact your embassy or consulate in Japan to inform them in order to receive a departure form to return to your country. Should you find yourself in an urgent situation or accident, please call 110 to contact the police.
