Recently, unique sandwiches chock-full of carefully chosen ingredients have started appearing in Kumamoto, one after another. This article will introduce you to some of our most highly recommended ones.

Full of Fresh Domestic Veggies! BELT with Homemade Chicken Ham

At Delish Sandwich, a sandwich delivery shop located in central Kumamoto's Kohonji district, the most popular item is their BELT (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce and Tomato), prepared with homemade chicken ham.

This voluminous sandwich is made with bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and their homemade chicken ham. Lettuce so fresh that it crunches when you bite into it, comes together perfectly with hearty fillings like chicken ham, for a truly satisfying meal.

What's more, the aroma of the lightly toasted bread and accents of mayonnaise seasoned with yuzukosho (citron pepper paste) work to bring out the flavors of these ingredients to the fullest.

Using Only Carefully Chosen Domestic Ingredients

Their original bacon is sourced from Matsunaga Nojo, a hog farm located in the Kyokushi district of Kikuchi City in Kumamoto Prefecture. They use the ""Jishinsaku"" brand of eggs, laid by locally-raised chickens fed only natural feed such as seaweed and Japanese mugwort. With seasonal vegetables ordered from farms all over Japan, the owners are particular about their ingredients.

What's more, their homemade chicken ham is marinated in miso from Yoshimoto Miso Shoyu Shuzo, a soy sauce brewery near Miso Tenjin Shrine! Absolutely no chemical flavorings are used in their sandwiches.

Handmade with Attention to Detail

Unlike other sandwiches that are prepared ahead of time, these are handmade one by one, after the order is received. You can enjoy sandwiches with a freshly made taste every time.

This is a sandwich delivery shop offering free delivery in Kumamoto Prefecture (with a minimum order)!

If you pick up your order at the shop, you can get one free juice box per serving.

A Fabulous Fruit Sandwich Filled with the Owners' Love of Fruit

Miss Fruits Parlor opened in central Kumamoto's Oe district in 2019. Enjoy their menu that incorporates plenty of fresh fruit, from parfaits and pudding a la mode to sandwiches. This article introduces their fruit sandwiches.

Filled with chunks of fruit, these sandwiches make quite an impact! In the photo, on the left is Amanatsu (a citrus fruit similar to grapefruit), in the middle is Higo Green (melon), and on the right is Golden Kiwi fruit. These fruits are incredibly sweet, so the sandwiches are made with a light, slightly sweetened cream that works to bring out this sweetness.

These sandwiches might be big, but with their refreshing aftertaste you'll be sure to eat them up in no time.

Fruits Directly Sourced from the Wholesale Market

The fruits they use are all grown in Kumamoto. The owners go to the wholesale market every day, sourcing only the fruit that passes their taste tests.

In order to serve seasonal fruits at their ripest, they make their purchases by calculating the necessary ripening time for fruits such as melons.

Feel the Love For the Fruit Producers

The owners are a couple who opened this Fruits Parlor in order to support fruit producers who work very hard to grow their produce, but whose fruits are often disposed of because fruit is easily bruised and damaged.

These fruit sandwiches are filled with the owners' affection, both for the fruit itself and for those who produce it.

You can also enjoy specialty coffees, roasted in-house by baristas, that perfectly complement their fruit menu. Highly recommended!

Powdered Cheese on One Side of the Bread! The Aroma Whets Your Appetite for a Sandwich

Saku Sand is a take-out sandwich shop that opened in central Kumamoto's Shinhoka district in 2019. Here, we will introduce their signature item, the "Saku" sandwich.

Made with just lettuce and ham, this is a simple sandwich. One side of the bread is topped with powdered cheese and toasted, creating an aroma that will whet your appetite. The flavor of the cheese, the saltiness of the ham, and the crispiness of the lettuce are an excellent match.

The Perfect Balance Between the Ingredients and the Bread

These sandwiches are carefully made every morning by the couple who own this shop. The bread is selected for its taste and chewy texture to complement the ingredients, and staff consider the balance between these two elements to be very important. Even if you ate Saku Sand sandwiches every day, you will be sure to never tire of their mild and pleasing taste.

Prepared with hand-made mayonnaise, their egg sandwich is also popular.

Toasted Powdered Cheese

Saku Sand is known for sprinkling the top of its sandwich bread with cheese before toasting it.

According to the owners, We used to run a pet-friendly pension in Tochigi Prefecture's Nasu Kogen. We both love sandwiches, so we often ate them there. Among our sandwiches, our favorite was one with powdered cheese, so when we opened this shop, we made it our featured menu item.

Why not try a simple sandwich made by hand with tender loving care by a couple who love sandwiches?
