Enjoy Choosing with your Kids! The "Select Menu" is a Hot Topic HALE CAFÉ Tsunagu
This café, whose "Select Menu" is a hot topic, lets you choose from among 3 types each of rice, soup and salad, as well as 2 main dishes from a menu of 15 items.
Besides the meatloaf-like Hamburg Steak and the deep-fried Chicken Namban, there is a full lineup of home-style main dishes, such as Kara-age (chicken nuggets), Niku-jaga (simmered meat and potatoes) and Croquettes (fried mashed potatoes).
With a separate kids' space and shoeless seating, this home-like café welcomes children with open arms.
The name HALE comes from the Hawaiian word for "home". This café was created with wooden interiors and gentle indirect lighting for a comfortable space where you can relax as if you were at home.

Let Nature Heal Your Family in a Mountain Minka Café Café + Antiques KOKOPELLI
About 20 minutes by car from Kumamoto's city center, you will find an old Minka café on the western side of Mount Kinpo. It is surrounded by expansive nature.
Built over 140 years ago, this old Minka, a Japanese-style farmhouse, has been renovated. The interiors are decorated with antique furniture purchased abroad by owner Kiyomi Hashimoto and her British husband.
There are tatami rooms and a nursing room with a baby crib. A small attic room in the back is full of toys.
While waiting for your food or after your meal, you can let your kids play on the grass in the garden.
The cuisine is prepared by the owner-couple, who use rice grown without pesticides and local fruit and vegetables in season. No additives are used in the food here.
The Buta-no-Kakuni, a simmered pork dish, is served one-plate style, accompanied by multi-grain rice, salad, and quinoa marinade.
The slow-cooked pork is so tender. To its soy-sauce base, star anise is added as a secret spice, making this dish a masterpiece.
In this shop, you will find handmade wooden furniture and miscellaneous items, made lovingly by hand, wherever you look. These items may be purchased, too.
Kiyomi-san says, "First of all, the adults must find our place to be comfortable and enjoyable, and our food to be delicious. When the kids see their moms and dads smile, they can relax and enjoy eating and playing".
