Kumamoto Castle sustained extensive damage from the Kumamoto Earthquake that occured in 2016. On Monday, April 26, 2021, the Third Stage of the Grand Unveiling was scheduled to start! Now that the reconstruction of the Tenshukaku, or main castle tower, is finished, visitors can go inside. Installed with earthquake-resistant equipment and barrier-free facilities, there are also panel displays as well as tactile and scaled models.
